South Wales Borderers Infantry regiment cap badge, Ca.1916 all brass
South Wales Borderers was a line infantry regiment of the British army which ran for 280 years.
Formed in 1689 by Sir Edward Dering for serving in Ireland, The unit had to raise a second battalion in 1756 which was disbanded in 1948.
In 1969 the regiment was amalgamated with The Welch Regiment to form The Royal Regiment of Wales.
